The battle axe of the modern gunfighting is the shotgun. The shotgun remains the ultimate close quarters battle power tool and of all the weapons, it is inherently suited to the aggressive A.C.T.A. style of shooting. This dynamic course presents a clean and effective study on how to best use this weapon and why it remains the best choice for many applications.
After a brief overview of the fundamentals and a skill check, we progress quickly to advanced reality-based drills. This is the Shotgun version of Combat Handgunning. We will cover proper gear selection and placement, proper zero with shotgun and ammo types, fundamentals of shotgun work, shot patterning, Real world stress-proof reloads, weapon transitions, and ammunition changes, Dynamic movement and shooting, bilateral firing, use of cover.
All shotguns welcome - whether they are doubles, custom semi autos, or plain jane pump actions. We will teach you to run it to its utmost and deadliest level.
Range & Gear Requirements:
Approximately 100 rounds of Buckshot, 50 rounds of Birdshot, 10 Slugs and 50 rounds of pistol ammunition. Shotgun (any action, caliber or stock configuration) with a sling. Pistol with at least two magazines, suitable belt, holster, shotgun ammo pouches (butt cuffs or sidesaddles are acceptable alternatives). Magazine pouches are optional but a good idea, a belt of the same width as the belt loops for the holster and magazine pouches, and range safety gear (eye protection, and ear protection, elbow/knee pads are suggested).
Also Helpful:
Spare clothing appropriate for the weather; hat, raincoat, bug repellent, etc. Water for the entire day. Allergy medication (if needed), a chair (if you prefer), note taking supplies, and a boo boo kit (band aids, gauze pads, antiseptic wipes, antibiotic ointment and tape).
This class is great for beginners as well as for experienced shooters who want to tweak-n-peak their shooting skills.
